Cis-Trance Intro

Cis-Trance is a label started and run by DJ-Technetium in 2001. It was originally named Chemical Sound but through most of the early releases also carryies the Cis-Trance name. Most of the releases on this label are from Technetium but a few include RaverRose and MC Tyrant.

2024.10.14 - @technetium_z, theres going to be a trial at M3! I'll get my hands on it somehow...

鍵テクノ 完全版

鍵テクノ 完全版 or Key Techno Complete Edition translated is the first Techne release that is available to listen to, so of course it makes sense to start here! Before this release the Cis-Trance circle was known as Chemical Sound, which has 2 other releases that are archived via the Cis-Trance archive.org page. These include 鍵テクノ体験版 (Key Techno (trial version)) and a CD that came out at Comic Creation that there is practically no information about, apart from that it exists. But as there is no way to listen to these albums currently, we will start at Key Techno Complete!

I may be a little biassed on this album as it was the first Techne work I heard (I think) but I do honestly think that this is a very strong first release. The Happy Hardcore remixes all fit together very nicely in style and do genuinely make you feel energised and... happy. It is fairly different from the many makina albums that were released after it but that does make it stand out in my opinion. My only negative thought about the main 5 tracks is that, while stylistically they are very similar, there is not much mixing happening between tracks, despite being advertised as a Non-Stop-Mix. But considering that I think other than that the main tracks are very nicely made and really makes for a strong start in the numbered Cis-Trance releases.

There are 2 bonus tracks on this release, the first of which being a drum'n'bass remix of the kanon theme, which might honestly be my standout on this album. It honestly fits in very well with the quieter but happy sound of the happy hardcore songs, but the difference in genre really makes it stand out to me. The final track is a Piano track that ends off the album in a pretty charming way.

This album now is quite hard to find, as I believe it was only released at C62 and not in stores, but quite a few people claim to have it on discogs so I could be wrong! 100% I am looking out for it to complete my main series Cis-Trance collection and also just because it's a great album.

I'm unsure if I am going to keep doing ratings on this but this release for sure gets 4/5 stars.

プチ鍵コア

The second Cistra release that I'm able to talk about is プチ鍵コア or Petite Key Core translated. This release only has 4 tracks and all 4 clearly show the change in direction towards makina from CT-0001. A few months before this at M3 there was a release called Key Core Trial Version (鍵コア (体験版)) with 5 tracks, only 2 which crossover with Petite Key Core. But unfortunately that album has not been publicly ripped yet.

Despite this album being very short all the songs are fairly nice, they all share a similar style which helps it feel like an actual release and not another trial version/random collection of songs. My favourite on this release is the second track, 月童コア (月童 Spanish Hardcore Mix), as I like the melody and it features a nice piano bridge section.

Both this release and the trial version are very hard to come by but seem to have sold on surugaya before. There was also a listing for プチ鍵コア on mercari fairly recently for ¥23,000!

For a short album it still does offer something worthwhile to listen to as all the tracks are good listens. So I'll rate this release 3.5/5 starts.

鍵コア

I thought I'd write about both Key Core releases in 1 day as the previous release was fairly short. The history on this album I am a little confused about, as there are actually 2 trial versions with the same name. In my head the timeline should be simple but one of the trial discs isnt mentioned on the doujin page on the Cis-Trance website, presumably the version with the final releases artwork, which makes it quite hard to pinpoint when that would have released. I'll create a quick timeline to show what I mean but thats enough of the history lets talk about the actual music...

This album is the first full length album that is makina based and it is a great listen. Unlike CT-0001 the transitions between songs are much more DJ mix like and make the album listening experience pretty seamless. 4 out of the 10 tracks on this album are categorised as something other than makina which helps give the album a lot more variety than previous releases. My 2 standout tracks are definitely track 1 and track 8, I think 朝影 (MAKINA MIX) is a very solid makina track with lots of fun elements thrown in to make it energising and '鍵テクノ' (NEWSTYLE MIX) is much harder than anything else on this release which makes it stand out.

Recently a few copies of this have come up on the Hardcore Tano*c site which luckily I was able to grab, alongside a few other Cis-Trance releases. The second hand market for these is slim as they don't come up very often, as per most old nerdcore/doujin albums. But a copy recently sold on Surugaya, right before the official Hardcore Tano*c listings, for ¥8,000, thank god I didn't pull the trigger then!

I really love this album and it is always a good listen so this easily pulls 4.5/5 stars.

ラグコア

Like the surrounding releases Rag Core started off as a trial disc that was sold at C64 due to tech failure. A few months later the full version was released as a CD-R at M3 Fall and in stores the same day.

This album only has 7 tracks but they still make up for a varied listen, The makina songs are fun as always and the happy hardcore and newstyle tracks introduce a softer and harder sound respectively. I think my favourite on this album is track 6, 合併アリ○アハン (NEWSTYLE MIX), as it stands out being a lot louder and harder than anything else on the release. Overall I'm honestly not the biggest fan of this album. I can't exactly put my finger on why but it is just a little less fun and exciting to listen to compared to other releases surrounding it.

That being said it is still a solid release and I still enjoyed listening through it, but it won't have me coming back as frequently as CTCD-0002. 3.5/5 stars.

I may return to this release as I don't think my writing was very detailed or fun today 😭

エロコア

Ero Core was first shown as a trial disc at Sunshine Creation 22 and fully released at the next Sunshine Creation, and rounded out the releases that are titled as 'core'.

This album really bounces back from Rag Core to me. The only part of this album that I'm not a fan of is the first track, mainly the sampling. The track itself is a pretty solid makina track but the interjection of Smells Like Teen Spirit just doesn't do it for me. But the main thing is the eroge sound effects over the top, yea it fits with the title but it still puts me off the track slightly. Apart from that this album rocks. The transitions between songs are much more satisfying than previous albums and does really sound like a DJ mix now. And all the tracks are amazing, the makina songs on this release are super high energy and keep you pumped up throughout the album. HATRED's track is a really nice break from the high energy makina and is a super smooth trance track. The last 2 tracks are super hard and end off the mix really nicely, I wish Techne would've produce more speedcore as track 10 is amazing.

There are some copies of Ero Core on surugaya at the moment, which are hidden behind the R-18 filter. They are pretty expensive (around ¥8K!) but nowhere near the ¥18,000 that Ongaku Express is trying to sell it for on discogs (please don't buy from them.)

I'm a big fan of this release and it stands out just as much as Key Core to me. 4.5/5 stars.

THE GAME ADITCS!!

THE GAME ADITCS was originally supposed to be titled ファミコン対決 or Famicom Battle translated, but eventually morphed into The Game Aditcs. The original 4 tracks from the Famicom Battle trial disc were "Double Dragon" and "Kunio-kun Dodgeball" by RaverRose, "Tetris" by M-Project and "The violent Tengu" by Technetium. "Double Dragon" appears as the first song on the album with no name change, while "Tetris" was renamed to "Are You Down?". I wasn't able to find the other 2 tracks original source so I'm unsure if they are on the final release, somebody more knowledgeable about VGM has to let me know!

I think this album is quite similar to a lot of the later Techne albums as the tracks are a bit less hard than CTCD-0004, which matches to techne's later and more airy(?) makina sound. I think this is mostly led by RaverRose who has the most tracks on this release, all their tracks are pretty similar but all have something interesting and worth listening too, such as the harder style in "walked on the wind" or the acid parts on "PRELUDE". I think M-Project's tracks are probably the weakest on this album, but are still fitting with the album and it's theme. "ARE YOU DOWN?" is the strongest of his 2 tracks in my opinion and the Tetris melody works very well. Techne's tracks on this album are also very strong, with "Tc-nstmix_004" standing out to me, as I feel like most newstyle tracks on albums have, due to its comparative hardness and energy. But the makina tracks are still interesting and slightly toned down compared to the previous release.

Copies of CTCD-0005 are relatively easy to come by if you look at surugaya, and copies of the CD-R version are also easier to find than some other CD-R/Trial variations of albums, but they will be more expensive.

This is an album I heard very early into discovering Cis-Trance and also was one I bought very early on so I may have a little bias towards it. Overall, a very solid album and deserves 4/5 stars.

テクネベスト

This release was given out to people who owned all Key, Rag and Ero Core and filled out a form that was distributed on Techne's website. it was given away at (insert events here Internet Archive is down rn 😭) and later sold in stores.

This release is interesting to me as the idea of having 2 songs playing at once, therefore making it a 40 song album is really interesting but I don't think it's done perfectly. In a lot of the tracks it sounds very noisy, which normally I'm a fan of but it's also very messy. In most of the songs the kicks being layered just doesn't sound very good to me, I think it would've been much nicer to try and boost certain instruments and take away sounds in others to make them fit together better. Although there are some cases where the double song works very well, 恋愛Chu! is amazing and isn't affected too hard having the 2 tracks playing on top of each other. I also really like the songs that aren't Techne tracks there were included, especially track 3, DJ Storm & DJ Sonic - No Angel is such a good track and I wouldn't have found it without this album.

Can't really talk about buying these as I haven't had the chance to pick this release up yet, but they don't seem any harder to obtain than other less sold Cis-Trance works.

I think the concept of this album is really great but a lot of it to me was kinda overwhelming and some of it just didn't sound that great. To me this is a 3/5 star release but I still think it's a worthwhile pickup as it's still interesting.

テクネMIX001

There isn't really a release date for this release, but it was mentioned very early into 2005 on the Cis-Trance website. The non Techne tracks on this album (track 5 and 6) are from 2004 and back, but the Techne songs are from albums that mostly hadn't released yet, if it was for sale in 2005. For example track 9 is 幻想郷Highway, which would have first been released as 頭文字T on Dancing Touhou Drift Practice in Aug 2006, and ハレ・晴れ・マキナ (MAKINA MIX) but without the miku vocals, which was released on NicoNico Remix 2007 in Dec 2007. It also features Terras Makina which would only be released in 2024 on Too Negative!

This mix has pretty long transitions between songs, which kind of makes the illusion of the 2 songs playing at once gimmick from CTCD-0006. Overall the mix here is a lot cleaner than CTCD-0006 but there is still some clashing it sounds like, especially from Track 6 - 7 (I'm talking like I know anything about DJing haha) My favourite part of this mix is definitely the newstyle section on tracks 5 and 6, the 2 tracks Techne didn't make, I promise I'm a fan... All the other tracks are solid makina tracks and show off Technes sound and if this did release in 2005, acts as a great trial disc for a lot of the upcoming releases. The only song I'm really not a fan of, for no real reason to be honest, is the Dschinghis Khan - Moscow remix on track 7, could just be that I've heard the original too much!

There are a few copies of this for sale but they are all for extreme prices that I honestly wouldn't recommend even beginning to think of spending. On a side note my copy is in a different jewel case than Delorean's copy, which is in a case similar to a lot of trial release cases. Curious to find out if they were sold like this or if mine has been re-housed.

Overall the mix is pretty good and it has some great tracks, so I'd rate it a 3.5/5, would definitely consider getting this if you can find it at a reasonable price.

東方硬核夜

東方硬核夜 was originally planned to be released as 第1次スーパーRPG 大戦 SX. The track names for both releases are different so who knows if the tracks are completely different or if they have just been renamed. Info on this is hard to research atm since internet archive is down.

This is a pretty short release with only 5 tracks, but they are all very representative of Techne's sound and make for a really good little album. I'm not the biggest fan of the vocals on "シンデレラゲージ ~Kagome Kagome(MAKINA MIX)" but it's still a banging track. It's hard to choose a favourite on this as it's very short with no tracks that really stand out, but if I had to choose "千年幻想郷 ~History of the Moon(MAKINA MIX)" would probably be it, as i'm a big fan of the synths in that track.

I would definitely recommend checking out if copies are for sale as they usually are and for cheap prices. for sure an album I'd recommend to any makina fans/people new to the genre to pick up.

While definitely not an album I would bring on a long car journey, I find myself putting this on quite a bit when at home and just want something to throw on. 4/5 stars.

東方ハードコア

In my head this release marks a change in Techne releases as it starts a small trend of the CD-R version of an album having a slightly altered cover than the final, unlike previous releases where it is just a small line of text for the most part.

This album starts off with a bang as the first track "Help me, ERINNNNNN!! (SPEEDCORE MIX)" is very hard, it's probably not fast enough to be considered speedcore really but who cares it still goes. The album then slows a little into the makina tracks, all of which are pretty solid on this release, as you'd expect from a Teche album. The Phantom Ensemble makina track is a pretty fast track, leading nicely downward from the intro track. My favourite of the makina songs on this album is definitely the jumper makian mix of "The capital city of flowers in the sky", I absolutely love the piano part in this track and it fits super nicely into the harder sections. Another favourite of mine on this album is track 9, another real speedcore track!! Which also features MC-Tyrant, shame it's only a minute long...

As will become a common theme from now on, this album is pretty easy to find used for cheap prices, I think I got my copy for around ¥1,000, and it's definitely worth that.

While this album does have a lot of great tracks, some of the makina songs in this are really overshadowed to me and kind of fade into the background a little. But maybe that's because I've been listening to a lot of Techne over the last week! 4/5 stars.

踊る東方レイヴ

This release already goes back on what I said yesterday... This album has a slightly altered cover on a CD-R version but also has a trial version with an entirely different cover, done my Magic Acid. Thanks to Woolfenstien and delorean0501 on discogs there are scans of this trial version, Techne talks about the reasons the full album is delayed and such. But more importantly it contains a full 35 minute long DJ set?! The inside cover also talks about "Scheduled Songs" these tracks all share named with tracks on the final release, so I will assume that these are just teasers and not featured on the actual release.

This album starts straight off with one of the best tracks on it, ネクロファンタジア(MAKINA MIX) is an amazing makina track, and for me feels like one of Technes most recognisable, that shows of his style really well. The next few tracks for me take a little step back from that, but フラワリングナイト's very high pitched synth is fun. Track 5 and 6 are solid hardcore songs and act as a nice break from the makina action, like in most Techne releases. Finally again the last track is speedcore, supposedly. It's still a great hardcore track but definitely tamer than I would think of a speedcore song to be.

I guess to find out my questions on the trial release, and also hear it, as no rips are available, I'll have to spend ¥30k on surugaya... crazy. The released CD version of this album is pretty easy to find though, and comes up pretty often!

I feel like my rating system kind of falls apart here as the last 3 releases are going to be rated a 4/5. I do feel the same about all 3 though, they are all great makina albums with some interesting tracks slotted in for variety, so all deserving of 4/5 stars.

東方紅想歌

Wow already into double digit catalogue numbers, doesn't really feel like that long since I started doing this crap website! As usual around this time this release was originally sold at C69 (not funny) at the very end of 2005 as a trial, and then sold in stores with all its content in February 2006. The trial disc for this album contains only 3 tracks which all appeared on the final release. The cover is also a little different including the ~前夜祭~ text, being slightly darker and having the crosshair around her neck, not head.

This album only contains 6 tracks, and they are all individual tracks this time, not in a mix format like most other Techne releases. To be honest the first 2 tracks aren't really for me, on paper they should be because I love makina but they are a little boring, and I'm not a huge fan of the vocals on "A Cherry Tree Of Darkness." After that though the other 4 songs are all great, "Let's Go!!" is a hardstyle track which I was not expecting the first time I listened to this album, I like the inclusion of high pitched synths from "フラワリングナイト" on CTCD-0009, they fit really well here. The next 2 tracks are pretty similar hardcore tracks, using the same kick, but mostly make up for it by having very different leads, and track 3's vocals fit it's energy great. Finally is "Melody Of Sig Sig" which to me is just an alright track for me, I'm a fan of the vocals here but the synths don't really hit.

Like the previous few albums, these are very easy to find and won't cost you very much, so while it's certainly not my favourite Techne album, it fits nicely in any collection. The Trial version is, of course, a lot harder to come by, but from what I've seen is fairly obtainable with a bit of patience.

I'm trying not to rate albums with fewer songs harshly, as maybe it feels like I've done before, as I think EPs still can offer a lot to love. On this one I'm just not a huge fan of half the songs, but I'm sure they will offer something to a lot of others. 3/5 stars.

100%東方カーニバル

It's time for a little switch up, the first Touhou Carnival album!

As this album is a comp it features lots of artists, which helps bring the variety way up! The first track by ビートまりお is an AWESOME eurobeat song, I love this track, it's super high energy. Track 4 on my first listen I wasn't sure if I liked it but after another listen it is actually really good, the chops around a minute into the song sound very nice, even if the track sounds a little low budget(?) not sure how to describe it. The other rock/metal offerings here are very well made and fit into the album well, as they are pretty fast so keeps the pace high. Techne's tracks on this album are very strong in my opinion, but his first track is definitely my favourite, it's really fast and has really nice kicks. I think "激流三途河"'s speed is really effective for me, as it's very fun, the Touhou arrangement used is cool too. Brexit & Betweens track starts off a little slow for me, maybe I'm not a fan of the super emotional instruments in the background but when the synths in the last few minutes in the song start, it really hooks me in and creates a pretty awesome track overall. I think overall here every track offers something different and it's hard for me to pick out favourites and least favourites.

Again we are now in a period where these are very easy to find for sale alongside the other Cis-Trance releases from this time period, which is great as they are all worth picking up.

I think while all the songs are very different and are all great to listen to, nothing here super stands out to me as a song I want to constantly return to, so I'll rate it a 4/5 stars.

踊る東方ドリフト

Soundtrack

I believe this album has the most versions out of any Cis-Trance release. There are 2 trial versions of this album that were released in 2006, both with different content but the same front cover titled 踊る東方ドリフト -Practice-, the second release was called -Practice2- but it was only mention on the inside cover not the front. It was then released at Reitaisai 4 as 踊る東方ドリフト Soundtrack, which was advertised as CTCD-0011 but never actually had the catalogue number on the release. then a while later in 2008 the -´turbo- version was released, but this time without the 5 extra separate tracks, for... a reason I'm sure... but it does include 1 more track in the mix called "東方レインボーロード" so that does make it the most complete version I guess!

I think this release is the most representative of Technes work to me, maybe not his best but if somebody were to get into buying Cis-Trance this is for sure one of the first ones they would pick up or listen to. I think that overall a lot of the songs on here feel a little samey to me, which can be taken in a good or bad way. To me it's a good thing as I enjoy this specific style of makina and hardcore, I think though it does make a lot of the tracks here blend into one another, at least in the first half. The opening track is a cool intro track and really gives off that car game menu music vibe. The next few tracks are all solid makina tracks from Techne and REDALiCE, I don't really have any standout comments but I definitely think "地獄峠ダウンヒルバトル" is the strongest here, mainly due to the melody used. Track 8 "地霊殿 血の池ステージ" slows the pace down a lot and leads into the latter half of the album, which I feel is a little stronger. Betwixt & Between's song here is nice and picks up the pace well, "東方レインボーロード" also is a very fast track and super hard, love it. The final track here is pretty jazzy and honestly really soothing and is a really great closure to the album.

The -'turbo- variant of this album is mega easy to find and is 100% for sale right now, if you want to grab it. The other versions are harder to find, especially the -practice- versions. I have both the CD-R and CD versions of the -'turbo- version, so I'll upload some scans here to show the differences in a few days!

This release is great in terms of accessibility and showing off Cis-Trance's style, but a lot of the tracks are fairly samey to me, but if you like this style certainly an album you'll want to give a go, so I'll give it 3.5/5 stars.

ニコニコRemix

2007 Winter

The trial for this release was sold at M3 2007 Fall which included 3 tracks, all of which where featured on the final version, which came out at C73 at the very end of 2007

In my opinion vocals in songs help really to keep my interest, especially across an entire album. The first 2 tracks in this album are good makina tracks in my opinion are levelled up by the vocals. Song 3 is easily in my top 2 on this album, the vocals here are amazing, and the melody following along is really great as well, pretty much a perfect track. The start of Track 4, Billy's Boot MAKINA, feels quite slow to me, but picks up again the latter half with the synths. I'm a big fan of "アニソン (MAKINA MIX)" as I think that the more lowkey lead and vocals work very well together and the following new style track is also pretty strong. The miku vocals on "蛍の光 CV:初音ミク" don't really work for me but it is immediately followed up by "you" which is a stellar track. The final original track on the album is a "speed core" track but as usual it's not very fast, I love the kicks in this song but the melody really doesn't work in my opinion.

This release is a lot harder to find than other Techne releases that came out at the same time, as this was only released as a CD-R. Unfortunatly the purchase price on Surugaya is ¥8,000, so it's not looking good for the sale price, ugh... The trial version is, of course, very hard to find as well, but has been sold on surugaya before.

My review was a little more scathing than I thought it would be, as I love this album. The good songs really outweigh the mediocre ones on this album, 4.5/5 stars.

This release was a collaboration with ALiCE'S EMOTiON, and is part of a set of 2 albums that have interlinking covers.

This release starts off with a bang, with "Feel of Feelings". The vocals in this song are amazing and really add to the track, even if they weren't there the track would still be great, it's very high energy. The next track "AISIA" by Techne is probably my favourite of his on this album, it's simply a quality makina track. I think track 3 is the first eurobeat(?) song that has been on a Cis-Trance album and it is AWESOME, I'm a huge fan of everything happening in this song. The next few tracks don't really do anything for me specifically, but they are all still fun to listen to! Track 9, "Drake" by Tsukasa uses the touhou melody really well and is probably my favourite feature track on the album. "Welcome to Drakcore" is quite a switch up from the rest of the release, being a lot faster, which of course stands out to me, as has probably been evident throughout previous reviews. The last song is also one of the best, amazing vocals and backing track, it goes insanely hard.

These as a set are super easy to find, and are one of the older Cis-Trance releases you can still buy new, from Hardcore TANO*C, and I definitely would recommend picking them up as they are both cool albums, but also look great on shelfs.

While there is a bit of a drought in the middle of this release for me, overall it's still a solid release overall, and is even cooler that it's part of a set. 4/5 stars.

FANATIC

HARDCORE

BLACK LABEL

The second part in the FANATIC HARDCORE series, yes.

This is the stronger part in my opinion, more of the songs here stand out to me. The first track follows on exactly where we left off from the previous part in the series, and ofcourse my opinion hasn't changed it's still got great vocals and production. "Power Stream" by REDALiCE is one of my favourite on the album, the vocals on this track are steller and super catchy. The next track by ARM is a much more stompy track but still maintains the catchy, repetitive vocals that can really stick out to me on a lot of tracks on this release. "TEI TEC" is a killer hardcore song, I love the synths in this track, they are super high energy and fun, REDALiCE's production on this one is top notch. Betwixt & Betweens track here is one of my favourites that I've heard from them so far, the melody on the latter half of the track is so emotional, it goes so insanely hard. "Shot The KICHIGAI" is a really fun Technetium track to me, it still maintains his sound but is a lot faster than most of his songs, so it stands out quite a bit. I love the piano part at the start of the last track, it builds a lot of anticipation, which is mostly met by Techne's good production and vocals from 佳織みちる. There are a few songs, namely "Flower Stream -Trancecore mix-", which don't stand out too much to me, they are all, ofcourse, nice hardcore tracks but compared to other songs on here, are a little less interesting to me.

Of course the info here is going to be the same as the last, but Black Label definitely seems to be a little easier to find used than Red Label for whatever reason, who knows.

This release does a little more for me than the previous with a larger portion of tracks being more memorable, for that I'll rate it a little higher. 4.5/5 stars.

200%東方ハードコア

This release was sold first at the Comiket right at the end of 2009, and stocked in stores a few months later. This is the start of a few releases in which the CD-R version is almost indistinguishable from the store release, apart from the disc being printed on regular paper. The only difference I can notice from my copy is the obi image being slightly off on the CD-R version, making the back cover not line up perfectly.

This also parts a turn in vibe for the next few albums, a lot of the songs here feel a lot more lowkey to me, a little slower pace. Which is not a bad thing in most cases as I still enjoy this album. The album starts off with a strong track, that features vocals from 野宮あゆみ, which sounds awesome. The next track "Pleasant Christmas" feels like the fastest song on the album, it's a pretty solid track too, and feels like it shows Techne’s style very well. The 4th track byu RaveHeavens is one of my favourites on the album, I'm a huge fan of the synths in this, they are super groovy. "Beatyful face" sets up the rest of the album, as a lot slower than the first half really well, but is immediately kicked back by the second RaveHeavens track which features a lot of guitar, which feels fresh. "The Last Together" is another slower track, which features piano heavily as the lead, which sounds super smooth, I also like the part where it fades to mainly just a kick, I'm not sure why but it feels like I haven't heard something similar in most of the other albums, which makes it stand out to me. The final track is veryy low key, and finishes off the album really nicely, and it's nice to hear a little breakbeat in this song too! Of course the actual last track in this album is a mix of about half of the tracks, mixed at a bit of a higher bpm than they actually are. I don't have too much to say on the mix, but it's a nice little addition to the album.

As these are more recent they are very easy to find for cheap, the CD-R version is a little harder to find, but honestly there isn't much point going for it as it's practically the exact same thing!

This release has some really good tracks, but some of them don't really stick out to me that much to be honest, I'll give this a top end 3.5/5 stars.

ABNORMAL DANCE

ABNORMAL DANCE was first sold at Reitaisai 7 and then 5 days later was released in stores. I believe this was only ever sold as a pressed CD, at least I can't find any information to not support this. Being that Reitaisai was so close to the store sale dates I think this makes sense.

This was the first Cis-Trance album that I ever got physically, so maybe I'm a little biassed but I think this release is pretty strong. The first track is pretty iconic, at least to me, and it represents this era of Techne’s slightly slower music amazingly. I'm also a big fan of the second track, the vocals really add to it and make it a pretty heavy track. I think all the feature songs on this album are awesome, starting with RaveHeavens' track, it's pretty fast for this album but matches the vibe perfectly. "God A" is another really iconic Techne track, it's not the strongest on this album but does fit in well, so it's still a good listen. Betwixt & Betweens track on this album is probably my favourite, the first half has a lot of nice synths and acid parts, and the second part is electrifying with the super fast synth, ugh it is amazing. I also really enjoy the piano on "Hot Captain". I think it's included really elegantly. "Be Of Good Corpse" is probably the track that I think of when I think of Technetium, just due to the vocal chops!

I think this is probably, next to CTCD-0011, the easiest to find Cis-Trance release, copies of this album are almost always for sale on mercari and surugaya!

Although I've raved about this album a lot in this article, there are some tracks that don't stand out to me for whatever reason, but they are mixed in with some absolutely iconic tracks, so I'll rate this album a solid 4.5/5.
